To be eligible in this category, you must have successfully completed the Qualification Certificate Program with Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) and possess both the Qualification Certificate for the Compulsory Trade and letter of invitation from AIT before applying to the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) under this category.

Foreign nationals currently residing in Alberta who possess an Alberta Qualification Certificate in a Compulsory Trade may be eligible to apply to the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) without an application from an Alberta employer.

Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) - Criteria under the Strategic Recruitment Stream - Compulsory Trades Category

  • A Candidate must demonstrate a clear ability and intention to live permanently in Alberta.
  • A Candidate must have an invitation from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) in order to submit a full application under this category.
  • Invitations are provided by AIT upon successful completion of the Qualification Certificate examination(s) for the Compulsory Trade.
  • A Candidate must possess an Alberta Qualification Certificate in a Compulsory Trade;
  • A Candidate must be able to demonstrate that they are currently residing in Alberta; and.
  • A Candidate must be able to demonstrate that they are either currently working for an Alberta employer in their trade or have previously worked at least 6 months in the past two years with an Alberta employer in their trade.
