New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program – Skilled Worker with Family Support
Although this program is technically not a sponsorship program, skilled workers who have family in Nova Scotia are able to apply for permanent residence if they and their family members meet the criteria:
Supporting family members must have lived in New Brunswick for at least one year in order to help relatives to settle.
The following relatives may apply to be skilled workers with family support:
- Children /step-children
- siblings / step-siblings
- sister / brother-in-law
- nephew/niece
- grandchildren
The following relatives are NOT eligible to be skilled workers with family support:
- spouses & common-law partners
- parents & parents-in-law
- grandparents
- dependent children
- refugee claimants & failed refugee claimants
- temporary foreign workers with work permits
- live-in-caregivers already working in Canada
Applicants for New Brunswick's Skilled Worker with Family Support Category must demonstrate the following:
- age 21 – 49
- one year post-secondary (with certificate, degree or diploma)
- two years full-time work experience in your chosen field (withing the last five years)
- Satisfactory proficiency in English or French to work in your intended job (minimum score of 4 on IELTS and 3 on TCF, DELF or DALF)
- Declaration of Support signed by your relative in New Brunswick and evidence of strong connection to the province
- Employability in New Brunswick (proper training, experience and credentials)
- Full-time job offer from a solid New Brunswick business OR
- An employment search plan with details
- $10,000 plus $2000 for each family member coming to Canada
Sponsors of applicants in the Skilled Worker with Family Support Category must demonstrate the following:
- 12 months of consecutive residence in New Brunswick and proof oc permanent residency or Canadian citizenship.
- Evidence of approved relationship with the applicant
- must not have received any income support from the government in the last 12 months and must prove sufficient income
- sign a New Brunswick Declaration of Support and attend an interview
- If immigrated to Canada as a Nova Scotia Business Applicant, must show proof that the business has been operating for 12 months
- If immigrated to Canada as a Nova Scotia Skilled Worker, must show proof of working in New Brunswick for the previous 12 months.
