Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program (NSNP) - Community Identified Stream

Immigrants seeking immigration to Canadawho  wish to reside in Nova Scotia can apply under the Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program (NSNP) Community Identified Scheme.

The Community Identified stream of the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) is aimed at selecting prospective immigrants who have long established connections to a Nova Scotia community, wish to live there permanently, are employable and can contribute to the labour market and economy.

Successful immigrant applications under this scheme pave the way for successful Canadian immigration to the province of Nova Scotia and the gaining of permanent residency status.

To qualify applicants should not be eligible for any other stream of the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP).

Important Information about the Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program (NSNP) - Community Identified Stream

As per the name this stream is community-driven. Applications will only be accepted by the Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program (NSNP) if the applicant has a Letter of Identification from an organization mandated by the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration.

Miniumum Criteria for Immigration Applicants under the Community Indentified Stream of the Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program (NSNP)
 

In order to qualify for the NSPNP Community identified stream, the applicant must:

  • not be eligible for any other NSPNP streams
  • have legal status in their country of residence
  • if living in Canada, evidence of visitor status
  • have a Letter of Identification from a mandated community organization
  • have long established connections in the community which has provided the Letter of Identification
  • wish to settle permanently in the Nova Scotian community which nomininates the applicant
  • have sufficient assets to support themselves and their dependants upon arrival in Nova Scotia
  • have skills, training and work experience allowing the applicant to secure future employment in a field or sector required by the community which provided the letter of support
  • meet the minimum criteria for age, education, and language requirements for the stream (see table)
Criteria Factor Minimum Requirements
Age Between the ages of 21 and 55
Education and Training You should have a minimum of one years post secondary education and the relevant skills or training in a sector required by the community.
Language Ability Have sufficient language ability to be able to communicate effectively in Nova Scotia.
Work Experience You must have a minimum of one years work experience in the last five in a sector of industry required by the community.
Adaptability You must demonstrate your genuine desire to live in the Nova Scotia community that provided the letter of identification. As well as prove your established ties in the community and a letter of intent outlining your employability reasons as well as your social and community contributions.
Financial Resources Proof you have sufficient funds in your name or via your new employer / family to pay for immigration costs, travel costs and settling in costs for you and your family.
Federal guidelines state CDN $ 10,000 for the main applicant and CDN $ 2,000 for each dependant. (reduced for applicants who already reside temporarily in Nova Scotia.)
