Canadian Immigration to Saskatchewan via the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Scheme - Self Employed Farmer

Prospective immigrants to Saskatchewan may consider the category of the Saskatchewan Immigrant nominee program (SINP) that caters for self employed farmer immigration. If the prospective immigrant is successful under his category it will result in the issuing of a provincial nomination certificate.

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) is designed to promote immigration to Saskatchewan for owner operators of farms with substantial assets and management experience. At the same time to encourage a sustainable and long term farming industry within Saskatchewan, Canada.

Successful immigrant applications under this scheme pave the way for successful Canadian immigration to the province of Saskatchewan and the gaining of permanent residency status. In addition it meets the needs of attracting and retaining needed farmers.


Applications for the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) - Self Employed Farmer Driven

  • Immigration applicants must demonstrate a net worth of CDN $ 500,000.
  • A mandatory visit of at least 5 days to Saskatchewan for the purposes of research and a meeting with a Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) representative.
  • Previous management experience in running a farming operation that can be proven.
  • Suitable training and education and experience in running a farming operation.
  • Applicants must sign a performance agreement which includes them committing to purchasing a farm in Saskatchewan and pay a good faith deposit of CDN $ 75,000 which is held by the province for 2 years, if the conditions of the performance agreement are not met the CDN $ 75,000 is lost to the province.

SINP - FARM OWNER/OPERATOR CATEGORY - YOUNG FARMER STREAM
 

In addition to the General Farm Owner/Operator Category, the SINP has recently launched the new Young Farmer Stream.  In order to qualify under the Young Farmer Stream, the applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Have a minimum personal net worth of $300,000 CAD, obtained through legal means and verifiable to an 80% certainty
  • Be under the age of 40 at the time of applcation
  • Have a minimum of three years farm ownership, management, or practical farming experience
  • Provide a documented proposal for a commercial farming opportunity based on consultations, research, or formal coursework. The farming proposal must be undertaken with a reasonable expectation of profits (currently $10,000 CAD/A)
  • Have (either personally, or the applicant's spouse has) marketable employment skills based on education and experience, which will allow you to supplement farm income.
  • Have conducted an exploratory trip to the province of Saskatchewan that was a minimum of five days in length
  • Be willing to make a minimum equity investment of $150,000 CAD in a new or existing farming operation in the province of Saskatchewan comprised of either capital assets or working capital
  • Be willing to make a $75,000 CAD refundable deposit with the province of Saskatchewan. This will be returned with any interest accrued when the applicant has met all conditions outlined in the performance agreement.
