What is the Yukon Nominee Program

The Yukon Nominee Program is an immigration program operated on behalf of the Government of Yukon in conjunction with Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to expedite the processing of an application for permanent residence.

The Yukon Nominee Program is designed to support Yukons economic growth by attracting labour-market-destined immigrants, entrepreneurs, and self employed to the province.

Categories available within the Yukon Nominee Program

There are various categories that prospective immigrants may apply under to secure and Yukon provincial nomination certificate:

Worker Nominees

For immigration applicants under the Yukon Nominee Program who have a full time and permanent job offer from a Yukon Employer. The workers category is divided into two subcategories:

Business Nominees


The Yukon Business Nominee Program is an agreement undertaken between the governments of the Yukon and Canada, allowing the Yukon to nominate individuals with proven business skills for expedited processing for permanent residence.

The Yukon Business Nominee Program is not a passive investment program, in that applicants are required to contribute moneys to their business to ensure viability, however, passive investment is not accepted.

ELIGIBLITY
In order to qualify for the Yukon PNP Business Nominee program, the applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of five years of senior management or direct entrepreneurial experience in a business similar to the one proposed
  • A minimum net worth of $250,000 CAD, including minimum liquid assets of at least $150,000 CAD
  • Have undertaken at least one trip to the Yukon, including a meeting with an officer of the Yukon PNP Business and Industry Development Branch
  • Can demonstrate sufficient communication skills in either English or French to operate a business in the Yukon.

BUSINESS (INVESTMENT) REQUIREMENTS

In addition to meeting the above criteria, the applicants proposed investment must also meet the following:

  • The applicant must be involved in the day-to-day management of the business in an ongoing capacity
  • The minimum investment must total at least $150,000 CAD, and the applicant must control at least 33.3% of the equity in the business. This investment cannot be used as part of a home-based business
  • The investment cannot be made in a business that was purchased or used by a prior business nominee within the last five years. If more than five years have passed, the applicant must control at least 50% of the equity.
  • If credentials or licences to practice are required to establish, or continue operations of the investment business, the applicant will be expected to demonstrate they can meet the conditions required.
  • Priority will be given to business's in "Priority Business Sectors" (see below)
